Overview

Using audience insights, data, and marketing trends, the campaign strategy will be fully customized to the author’s audience and the book’s needs.

We generally recommend a four- to six-month engagement to insure maximum impact.

For book launches, we recommend beginning three-to-four months prior to publication, and ending 6 weeks after publication. At the stated conclusion of contract, we will evaluate, adjust, and/or renew the services package.

Our proposals are fully customizable, based on the tactics and efforts that will best support the author’s goals, at a $10,000, 4-month campaign minimum per contract.

The book marketing experts at Enchantress will work as an extension of your publishing team to increase sales and partnership opportunities for you and your book, using their influencer, industry, and partnership contacts to find every possible opportunity to increase awareness for your message and drive book sales.

Our current package offerings are detailed below.

Clients may choose their own services that fit their marketing and campaign needs, as long as the package meets a $10,000 minimum, with 50% due before the services start date, and 50% due upon completion.

  • Solidifying and maintaining your author brand is an important piece of your publishing journey, and is a multifaceted, ongoing effort. What do you represent online? What do readers come to you for? When someone mentions your name, what is their first thought? 

    At Enchantress, we use a holistic approach toward all of the pieces that make up your unique author story, and work with you to create clarity, consistency, and control across these various channels. We begin with an audit of your current messaging and platforms to assess current strengths and misalignments, and collaborate with you to create a seamless customer journey through owned content rollouts. 

    This package includes brainstorming sessions to pinpoint your vision and translate it into actionable strategies with scalable impact. This isn’t “set it and forget it”. It’s “plant it and nourish it.” 

    Deliverables include:

    • Brand Exploration session, to brainstorm and agree upon vision, mission, and big picture goals (up to 90 minutes)

    • Brand Review session, to solidify actionable next steps (up to 60 minutes) 

    • Brand kit, which includes recommended fonts, colors, voice notes, and guidelines (for complete design services, please see the Digital Toolkit & Design Services package) 

    • A complete review of your existing online platforms (social media, newsletter, and/or website), with recommendations for messaging, cadence, and expansion 

    • Suggested content calendar for all of your active social media platforms, aimed at both reinforcing existing readership as well as expanding to capture a desired target/opportunity audience

    • Newsletter strategy, recommendations, and suggested calendar (for full newsletter services, please see the Email Newsletter package) 

    • Templates for activating your friends and family network 

    • Website recommendations and optimizations (for full website creation services, please see the Custom Website package)

  • In an ever-expanding range of options to connect with readers, email newsletters remain one of the most effective ways of reaching your audience. You control the content, cadence, and subscriber base, all of which cannot be taken away or impacted by a third-party algorithm. 

    Maintaining an email newsletter requires consistent updates, with content that is tonally clear, meets subscriber expectations, and offers value to your subscribers. 

    This package includes:

    • Full content creation, drafting, editing, and scheduling for your newsletter for 6 months, customized to your audience, tone, and fully integrated into your overarching marketing strategy--with as much or as little input/oversight as you'd like to give.

    • Email newsletter platform set-up on a platform of your choice (such as Substack, MailChimp, Flodesk, etc.)

    • Email schedule and content strategy for up to 2 newsletters/month for the length of your campaign with us

    • Full creation and building of newsletter content included for up to 2 newsletters/month, including copy writing, copy editing, building, and deploying the emails

    • Email acquisition strategy to drive sign-ups, such as content exchanges with other newsletters or free sign-up incentives

    • Includes 10 hours per month of writing/editing (the time needed for 2 emails). Writing/editing in excess of 10 hours per month available at the full hourly rate of $175/hour

  • An author website is an essential component of not only your author brand, but also a foundation of trust with your readers. An efficient author website acts as a professional business card, buyer resource, and central communications hub all in one. 

    The Enchantress team can fully build a comprehensive, well-designed, and secure website for you, with a clear hand-off for you to feel confident in keeping your site up-to-date into the future. 

    Our website package includes: 

    • Full build of your author website 

    • Design inspiration process, including tailored process to determine the color, fonts, graphics, and more for your site

    • includes a full brand discovery process to determine your brand mission and vision—which inform copy on the website—as well as brand visuals (fonts, colors, etc.)

    • Full copy writing for website pages, based on materials, bio, etc. that you will provide. Copy writing may be included for these pages, and other custom pages mutually agreed upon.

      • Page examples: Home, Book, Author/About, Speaking/Events, Contact, Media/News/Press, Resources, Book Clubs, Newsletter Sign-up, 404 error page, Privacy Policy, Terms of Use

    • Full website build on user-friendly content management system (CMS), such as Squarespace

    • Email newsletter templates created to match new website design

    • Mobile-friendly site developed in tandem with desktop site

    • Website optimized to book sales, with the book front and center

    • Installation of Google Analytics and advertising pixels (Google, Meta) for retargeting purposes

    • Search optimized copy, headlines, and back-end metadata management

    • Google Search Console submission and indexing

    • Management and updating of media links and events throughout the campaign

    • Full quality check and testing of every website element

    • Full handover instructions and tutorials for you to feel confident managing the site yourself in the future

    • Includes 2 rounds of revisions for design and UX

    COST: $13,500

  • Eye-catching, impactful visual assets are essential for any online promotion. Our design team can make visual assets on your behalf, giving you the freedom to post and update as appropriate. 

    Our design services package includes: 

    • Introductory design preferences call, to align on desired creative vision and visual vocabulary (up to 60 minutes) 

    • Font research and selection to match a title cover design and/or author branding 

    • Digital toolkit consisting of: 

      • Social media cover photos for your platforms (including pre-pub and post-pub variations for title launches) 

      • 5-10 quote and/or blurb card graphics

      • 2-3 lifestyle photo options for your galley and/or finished books

      • Tour/event graphics (if applicable) 

      • A+ and retailer display banner content (if not already provided) 

      • Canva templates for you to be able to make additional content beyond our contract

    Graphic design services are offered for up to 10 hours a month, and each designed element includes 2 rounds of revisions. Additional edits or hours beyond these will incur an additional $150/hour charge.

    COST: $4,000

  • Many books benefit from low-cost, high-ROI social media ads, reader-centric advertising, and a search ad campaign to capture readers at the moment when they are looking for their next book to read. 

    This service includes 4 weeks of advertising with a total budget of $10K worth of media placements, in addition to our strategy and execution fees for booking, targeting, ad creative/copy direction, and daily optimization. Tactics may include:

    • Facebook and Instagram in-feed advertising

    • Google sponsored search advertising

    • Amazon AMS search advertising

    • Cross-platform display ads (banner ads) to reach your target audience on other top-tier media sites, i.e. to reach readers wherever else they may be consuming content and media

    This is entirely scaleable, with a recommended $2,500 ad spend per tactic.

  • Bespoke book artwork is an increasingly popular tool for engaging with readers and promoting your work digitally and physically. It’s an eye-catching, fun, and effective method of quickly communicating the atmosphere of your book and a canon/official representation of your characters. It can also inspire other artists to create their own transformative work, building a positive creative community and fandom. 

    At Enchantress, we have a network of artists who can help bring your words to life. As the author, you can be as involved or hands-off as you would like in this process.

    Please note that we only work with human artists and do not support generative AI usage in promotional artwork. This is for the protection of both your author brand and the artist’s integrity. 

    Our artwork package includes: 

    • 1 high-resolution piece of digital artwork with full promotional rights 

    • Strategy for artwork usage, such as: social media promotions, art prints for events/preorder incentives, playlist artwork, convention promotions, etc. 

    • Artist research, looking for best style/tonal matches with significant reach (options to be presented and discussed) 

    • Proposal for creative direction (such as character portrait vs. scene illustration) 

    • Art direction and development, in collaboration with the artist and author 

    • Negotiations with the artist 

    • Securing artist agreement and work contract for legal permission to use artwork promotionally 

    • 3 rounds of revisions: sketch, line art, colors/final render 

    • Coordinated social media rollout between author and artist 

    • Physical prints/marketing collateral to be discussed 

    This service assumes a price of at most $3,000 for artist commissioning and licensing fees. Artist fees in excess of this price will be negotiated and agreed upon prior to commitment, with final charge reflected at the end of the contract period.

  • Preorder offers are a unique way of engaging and rewarding your existing fanbase while increasing overall book sales. Preorder incentives come in a variety of different forms, and can be created with the book, your brand, and reader demand in mind. 

    Please note that this package must be booked a minimum of 6 months prior to the book’s publication date to maximize effectiveness. 

    This package includes:

    • Creation and organization of a unique preorder submission form 

    • Strategy and rollout of preorder announcement and pre-pub reminders 

    • Communications with participants, including troubleshooting and follow-ups 

    • Design and production of a bespoke preorder incentive (either a digital or physical item) 

    • If a physical item is used, Enchantress will handle confirming address information with customers, packaging items, and distributing swag to participants 

    Physical preorder items will incur an additional cost to cover production and mailing costs. Price will depend upon the type of item and quantity produced.

    COST: $3,000

  • Consumer conventions are one of the few events that not only allow you to directly interact with your established fans, but also invite new, like-minded readers to discover your work. 

    With a growing variety of local and national conventions, Enchantress can help you navigate this event space with confidence and set up a booth space of your own. 

    Please note that, at this time, this service is limited to U.S.-based consumer conventions. 

    This package includes:

    • Recommendations for best fit consumer convention appearances and/or networking opportunities 

    • Assistance with author/vendor application 

    • Convention booth strategy, with considerations for:  

      • Production of physical, promotional booth collateral 

      • In-booth promotions (newsletter leads, early galley distribution, etc.) 

    • Designed booth graphics, layout, and build for a standard 10’ x 10’ space

    • Media training for panel appearances and signings 

    • Shipping/drayage coordination with event staff 

    • Outreach for non-attending/satellite conventions (galley drops, program ads, etc.)

  • Consumer reviews are one of the most valuable marketing resources in publishing. They can serve as a powerful temperature check, and signal if there is any course-correcting that should be explored. Is the current marketing messaging resonating with readers? What did they enjoy about the reader experience, and where did they get stuck? What keywords or comps do they use to describe this book or series? 

    That said, reading through all of these reviews is not only time-consuming, but can also be an emotionally draining experience for an author. AI overviews often provide only surface-level or misleading summaries that might miss crucial insights. 

    Enchantress can act as an unbiased third party and read through these reviews on your behalf, providing a detailed report of learnings and any recommended strategy adjustments. We’ll highlight what you need to know (that includes raves!) and if there are any actions you’ll need to take to strengthen your publication.

    Our consumer sentiment package includes: 

    • An in-depth review of current consumer reviews across Goodreads, NetGalley, and applicable retailer sites with populated review modules (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc.)

    • Detailed written report of overall reader sentiment, analyzing:

      • At-a-glance ratings 

      • Positive and negative feedback report, identifying consensus themes as well as useful outliers 

      • Commonly used keywords (such as descriptors, genre tags, tropes)

      • Commonly mentioned author/book comps 

    • Actionable recommendations for marketing messaging, positioning, and strategy, as appropriate 

    • Active review reporting: flagging reviews containing harassment, spam, or otherwise threatening content unrelated to the book itself to appropriate platform content moderation teams 

    COST: $3,000

  • Online personalities act as a trusted source for recommendations. At Enchantress, we turn influencers into fan ambassadors to maximize your book’s visibility and impact online. We believe that finding the right fit is more important than a large following, and consider both macro- and micro-influencers in bookish spaces as well as non-bookish spaces with high crossover affinities.

    In a typical campaign of this scope, we generally pitch ~100 influencers on your behalf.

    If you are working with a publisher who is already doing influencer outreach, this package can be booked in collaboration with your publishing team to increase overall reach while preventing duplicate pitches.

    This package includes custom research and outreach to influencers most meaningful to the target audiences for the book: 

    • Influencer wishlist and categories for research by channel, reach, and audience

    • Custom pitches to each influencer and ongoing follow-up

    • Special asks and/or bigger collaborations with high-value influencers and customized strategy for the best "ask" for each influencer (i.e. collab post vs. giveaway vs. Reel, etc.) 

    • Management of supplying product/books to influencers

    • Management of paid influencer collabs and sponsored posts (subject to additional cost)

    • Measurement/tracking of any posts from influencers

    COST: $5,500

  • Word-of-mouth remains a cornerstone of book marketing. Enchantress can help you organically increase the conversation around your book by encouraging high-quality, high-impact consumer reviews.

    This package includes a dedicated digital campaign to drive additional consumer and trade reviews on retailer sites, NetGalley, Goodreads, etc., including:

    • Emails to drive consumer reviews to top Goodreads reviewers, known NetGalley influencers, and more

    • Outreach to those who read/downloaded the NetGalley edition

    • Outreach to folks who rated your previous books, and those who marked the hardcover as "to read" but haven't given it a star rating yet on Amazon/Goodreads

    • Friends & family email templates to activate your network for reviews

    If physical galleys are available for your title, early copy mailing services are available for an additional cost (dependent on the quantity available and desired mailing approach.)

Marketing Services Retainers

Retainers for ongoing marketing services, management, and maintenance are available at a minimum of 6 months. These retainers are a great fit for authors looking to offload ongoing marketing demands (such as newsletter and social media workload) to focus on their writing and other priorities.

Services provided are custom to the client. Price is determined based on the scope of work, with payments due on a monthly basis.

All retainers are subject to review and renewal at the conclusion of an agreed-upon retainer period.

Publishing Consulting Services 

Enchantress offers ad hoc consulting services to authors, publishers, and agents looking to better understand the demands of the marketplace and level up their own marketing.

Consultations are structured to provide strategy and guidance to shepherd the client’s needs through the production and publication process, including reviews of all pre-publication materials, recommendations for publication strategy, and introductions to publishing services, tools, software, and other professionals.

Consultations are offered at $250/hour.
